APT Global Marine, RMC was awarded with a project to decommission, dismantle and recycle Barge "SMIT BORNEO" (BOSKALIS owned) as per Hong Kong convention standards located in RAK Maritime City, Ras Al Khaimah, UAE. This yard of APT is approved by B.V. for Ship recycling activity as from 2021

Vessel was moved to APT quay in April, 2021. Thereafter the 500T crane was dismantled initially and the accommodation and all related structures was removed in afloat condition. The vessel was moved to the slipway, where it was cut into 8 blocks and transferred by SPMT's to the recycling location within APT yard. This service is the first of the kind in the region and involved local partners for the green recycling process.
